Gujarat Government reduce 16 paisa electricity cost per unit
Fuel surcharges have been reduced for 3 months of April, May, June which will benefit the consumers. In addition to energy charge, fuel surcharge is levied on electricity bill from electricity consuming customers. The collection of this fuel surcharge is based on the formula prescribed by the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission. Fuel surcharge was levied at the rate of Rs 2.06 per unit during the previous quarter i.e. January 2020 to March 2020 as against Rs 1.90 per unit during the quarter of April 2020 to June 2020. Fuel surcharge has been reduced by 16 paise per unit during the period. 310 crore of relief.
Why did the government reduce?
The main reason for the decline is a decline in purchases. 310 crore. The benefit will go to the people of the state. The unit was at 2.06 paise which has been priced at 1.90 paise. The main reason for the decline in fuel surcharge is that during this quarter, the state government has purchased gas at cheaper rates in the interest of consumers and produced gas-based electricity which has resulted in lower power generation costs which the state government has decided to directly benefit. Approximately more than 1.30 crore consumers will get this benefit directly, which will reduce their electricity bills and reduce their bills.
